sweet communion

Prayer is sweet communion with our God.  It is a beautiful act.  In prayer, we open our hearts to the One who made us.  And He accepts us because we are His beloved.

Hebrews 4:16
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

We are told to approach our God confidently.  We are told that our God is gracious and merciful.  We are encouraged to come before the throne.  Do we take advantage of that gift?  Do we really recognize the magnitude of being given direct access to the Creator of the world?  We do not need to go through layers of intermediaries, we can speak directly to Him.  He longs to hear from us.

Romans 8:26-27
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.  We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.  And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.

No, we don't always know what to say.  Sometimes, words do not express the situation.  That does not mean that we cannot still communicate.  Our God knows our thoughts and searches our hearts.  He knows our innermost self -- better than we do.  So if you don't have words, come before Him in silence and let Him hear what you cannot say.

Psalms 118:28-29
You are my God, and I will give you thanks; you are my God, and I will exalt you.  Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

May we never lose sight of who God is.
May we continually seek His face and praise His name.
May our reverence and awe inspire our prayers.
May we not forget the beauty of that communion.
