investing in people
A friend and I were talking today about relationships. Family, friends, co-workers, fellow believers, neighbors, acquaintances. There are as many types of relationships as there are people you know. For each person you know, there is a different relationship because there is a different shared history and different experiences.
For each of the differences, there is a common factor. Relationships take work. They are not always easy. They are not always sunshine and butterflies. But isn't that the beauty of those relationships? Because they take work, we invest in them and they become more valuable.
That begs the question: are we investing in our relationships?
* Do we pray for each other?
* Do we serve one another?
* Do we mourn with those who hurt?
* Do we rejoice together?
1 Thessalonians 3:12
May the LORD make your love increase and overflow for each other and everyone else.
The people in our lives make our experiences richer. They bring beauty into our existence. Sometimes that beauty is harder to recognize than other times. Perhaps in a person who feels like sandpaper rubbing you raw. Does that mean that they are not in your life for a purpose? Does that mean that they are not beautiful? No, it just may take more work to find that beauty. But isn't it worth it when we seek to see others as God sees them? To see their beauty and value from His perspective.
We cannot escape relationships, they exist all around us. We can strive to make them beautiful.
