a trill is not a flap and a flap is not a tap

Yup, you guessed it . . . Phonetics! :) This class is definitely fodder for laughter; often self-directed. Oh and by the way, I just used a flap in fodder.

Lesson of the day: Flaps and Trills
Funniest Quote: "imitate the voiceless snort of a horse" (production hint for how to make a voiceless bilabial trill)

And yes, the book did just tell me to do that . . . am not exactly sure how to respond. :) It never has been easy for me to make that sound, especially in the context of a word and not in isolation! The rest of trills and flaps and taps make pretty much sense and I like the trills.
